SMS Internal Auditor

This self-paced e-learning Safety Management System (SMS) Internal Auditor course is designed to train organizational personnel in the performing internal SMS audits, in accordance with the guidelines of ISO 19011:2025.

The course explains, in clear and practical language, the principles of auditing, the risk-based approach and the competencies required of an internal auditor. Participants will learn how to prepare an audit, how to collect and evaluate evidence, how to identify audit findings (conformities, nonconformities, and opportunities for improvement), and how to write clear and useful audit reports.

Special emphasis is placed on auditing SMS elements such as safety policy, safety risk management, safety assurance, and safety promotion, as well as on evaluating safety culture, human factors, and compliance with applicable regulatory requirements.

By the end of the course, participants will understand their role as internal auditors, be able to apply ISO 19011:2025 within the SMS context and effectively contribute to continuous improvement of safety performance and to strengthening the organization’s safety management system.
